Kamloops United FC returns to Hillside Stadium this Sunday, June 22, for one of the most meaningful matches of the season — the second leg of the Reid Davidson Charity Shield against Nanaimo United FC.
Earlier this year in Nanaimo, the two clubs split results — the KUFC men delivered a dominant 4–0 win, while the women battled in a close 3–2 loss. With a 6–3 aggregate lead, Kamloops enters the home leg with a real opportunity to capture the Shield for the first time.
The men’s team sits 5th in the League1 BC table with 13 points and remains firmly in the playoff picture. This match gives them not only a shot at silverware, but a chance to build momentum as the second half of the season heats up.
The women’s team, despite a tough campaign, is coming in determined to leave everything on the field. They’ll be aiming to finish the Shield series strong and put in a performance that reflects the progress and character this group continues to show.
This special matchday is presented by Excel Industries, which is owned and proudly operated by Reid's Family.
The Reid Davidson Charity Shield means more than just football. Reid had deep roots in both Kamloops and Nanaimo, having played youth soccer in Kamloops before moving to the Island, where he worked with Nanaimo United FC and became a vital part of their soccer community. His memory now lives on through this annual fixture — a reminder of how sport connects, inspires, and unites.
