After a landmark weekend for the club, Kamloops United FC hits the road to face Evolution FC in Coquitlam, with both the men’s and women’s squads looking to carry the momentum from a historic victory.
Last Sunday at Hillside Stadium, Kamloops United captured the Reid Davidson Charity Shield. Thanks to a strong first leg in Nanaimo and solid performances at home, the club was crowned Champions in the annual competition that honours former Kamloops Youth soccer player Reid Davidson.
Now, with the celebrations behind them, Kamloops shifts focus back to League1 BC play. Both teams will travel to Coquitlam this weekend to take on Evolution FC, an expansion club in their inaugural season.
The men’s side currently sits mid-table with a 5–5–1 record, still very much in the playoff hunt. A win against a struggling Evolution team would go a long way toward climbing back into the top four. Kamloops won the first meeting between the sides 3–1 at Hillside, and they’ll look to replicate that success away from home.
The women’s team, while sitting at the lower end of the standings, will be full of belief after lifting their first shield. Evolution FC’s women are also looking for form, making this an ideal chance for Kamloops to turn a new page in league play and build something in the final stretch of the season.
With club history made last weekend, Kamloops United FC heads into this round not just as contenders—but as champions. Both teams will be eager to show that the trophy lift wasn’t the end of something—it was the beginning.
