Kamloops United FC hits the road for the final time this BC Premier League season as both the men's and women's teams travel to Burnaby Lake West to take on Burnaby FC in a crucial weekend doubleheader.
The KUFC men's side heads into the match with plenty of momentum after earning its first victory of the season, defeating Unity FC 3 to 1 at Hillside Stadium. The result moved Kamloops within two points of Unity, while still holding two games in hand, keeping the race to climb the standings firmly within reach.
Another positive result this weekend would provide another important boost as KUFC takes on a Burnaby FC side currently sitting sixth in the table. With valuable points still available over the final weeks of the season, the men's team has an opportunity to continue its late season push and close the gap on the clubs ahead of them.
The women's team will be looking to bounce back after suffering a defeat two weekend's ago. Despite the setback, there is still plenty to play for as Kamloops enters the final three matches of the campaign.
Burnaby FC currently occupies sixth place in the standings, one spot ahead of KUFC, making this an important matchup in the race for position. A couple of victories would allow Kamloops to leapfrog Burnaby and continue the positive progress the squad has shown throughout the second half of the season.
With both teams facing direct competition in the standings, the weekend presents an excellent opportunity to collect valuable points before returning home for the final stretch of the season.
Kickoff is set for Burnaby Lake West as Kamloops United FC looks to finish its road schedule on a high note and build momentum heading into the final home matches of the BC Premier League season.
