Kamloops United FC’s 2025 League1 BC campaign opened with a thrilling doubleheader at Hillside Stadium on Saturday, April 12, as both the men’s and women’s sides took on expansion team Langley United FC.
Men’s Match: Kamloops United FC 3 – 2 Langley United FC
The men’s side marked their debut under the new Kamloops United FC name with a 3-2 win, fueled by goals from Riad Jaha, Isaac Tate, and Javier Sagaste. The team showed resilience and attacking sharpness throughout the match, controlling key stretches and responding well under pressure.
“We were organized defensively and took our chances when they came,” said Head Coach John Antulov after the match. “This is a great way to start the season, but there’s a lot more work to be done. We’re focused on building momentum from here.”
Women’s Match: Kamloops United FC 2 – 3 Langley United FC
The women’s team looked poised to open their season with a win, thanks to early goals from Ainsley Grether and Kat Stewart. But Langley staged a late rally, scoring twice in the final minutes to snatch a 3-2 comeback victory.
Despite the tough result, there were plenty of positives to take forward. “I thought the ladies had a strong performance today and I’m very happy we got a couple goals,” said midfielder Haley Bartram. “We’re going to keep building on that.”
Kamloops United FC will be back at Hillside Stadium on Saturday, April 19, as both teams host Evolution FC from Coquitlam
