The curtain falls on the League1 BC regular season this Friday, as Kamloops United FC welcomes TSS Rovers to town for the final home doubleheader of the year. It’s the last chance for both the men’s and women’s sides to leave a mark on 2025, and they’ll do it in front of a hometown crowd.
For the men’s team, there’s still something on the line. Kamloops enters the weekend in fifth place, and a win against TSS Rovers could lift them into fourth place, depending on other results—particularly if Burnaby FC falters in their final match. It won’t change the outcome of the season in terms of titles, but the opportunity to finish in the top half of the table is meaningful for a team that’s shown resilience through highs and lows.
TSS Rovers, however, come to Kamloops with far more at stake. Sitting just two points ahead of second-place Langley United, Rovers are still in the hunt for the League1 BC men’s championship. A win on Friday night could secure that.
The women’s match, on the other hand, comes with fewer standings implications. Kamloops United FC is set to finish at the bottom of the table, regardless of Saturday’s result. After a difficult start to the season, the women’s side has looked more composed and competitive in the second half. Friday offers one more chance to showcase that growth.
TSS Rovers’ women’s team arrives in Kamloops having already locked in fourth place, with nothing to gain or lose from the final weekend. That opens the door for Kamloops to dictate the tempo and end their campaign on a high note.
While Friday will mark the end of the League1 BC season, it’s far from the end of the road for KUFC. Both the men’s and women’s teams will take part in the Kamloops International Cup in August—an opportunity to test themselves against top international talent. The women will face Arsenal U21 Women on August 2, while the men will take on Nottingham Forest U21 Men on August 3, both at home.
